Okay, so it seems like every week or two, the previous stressful financial news gets lessened by a new development. So, while Rob is about to lose his pager fee that’s almost $1000/mth and his car allowance that’s almost $500/mth, we found out that he is going to be getting a small amount of overtime regularly starting fairly soon. Since we’d already gone crazy on cutting back, that looks like it will be a great blessing. Well, today, he found out that TI (which is the company he mainly works with) asked for a quote from his company to move and install 18 of the machines Rob specializes on. They bought them from a facility in Virginia that went bankrupt. Right now, they have two of his machines so getting 18 more would be awesome for his job stability and overtime. It would also mean a lot of revenue coming in for TEL from this area which would be great.
I’m enjoying how the recent cutbacks have refined my financial perspective, though, because my main thoughts (once I get passed “WOOHOO!!!!”) are how awesome it is that we’ve cut back so much so we can pay off the last remnants of our debt way fast and get a full emergency fund in place super quick. It’s what we meant to be doing with our money before but were definitely lollygagging along. It feels like a great blessing to have had this kick in the butt to get us in gear and really moving in the direction we meant to be moving. Even if it doesn’t all work out as good as it seems like it’s going to now, we feel good knowing that the Lord is watching out for us and helping us fulfill the goals we know we need to be working on.
